Ex Blackstars midfielder Laryea Kingston has recounted the good old days during his stint with the Senior national football team the Blackstars stating it was all fun then.
Kingston speaking on Ghone TV’s sports legends show commended the then management committee of the Blackstars for a great work they did to ensure team unity among his generation.
According to Laryea, the rapport which existed between players and the management committee of the Blackstars was just superb of a relationship.
Kingston disclosed management members of the team then like the GFA Kwesi Nyantakyi, Fred Papoe, Owoahene Acheampong, Randy Abbey and others took them as age mates and had fun all together after matchdays.
“During our time the management did very well. People like Nyantakyi, Papsay, Randy Abbey and Owoahene Acheampong. We were like a family.For instance after games the management will call us and as ask chale where are you taking us to. We take them to clubs .. I mean we had fun” The former Blackstars player said with a nostalgia.
Laryea Kingston played with players like Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, John Mensah and some other great footballers the Blackstars have had. He played a major role with the aforementioned in build to Ghana’s first qualification to the Worldcup in Germany 2006 but missed out on the tournament due to a suspension following a red card in an African cup of nations Game prior to the Worldcup tourney.
