Meet Fati Abigail Abdulai the Mandela Washington fellowship for young African leaders 2017 nominee

Since 2013, Fati Abigail Abdulai has been the National Director of the Widows and Orphans Movement (WOM), a non-governmental organization founded in 1993 in Bolgatanga. Fati has a passion to contribute her quota in ending injustices towards vulnerable groups in her community. At WOM she is tasked with advocating for the rights of widows and economically empowering them. She believes that she can impact the lives of the weak and vulnerable irrespective of challenging circumstances.

Fati holds BS and MS degrees in Renewable Natural Resources from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Reading University in the UK.

After the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Fati plans to continue her work in ensuring that vulnerable groups–particularly widows and orphans–live a dignified life.
