Kumasi Airport undergo disinfestation

A waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL), has carried out disinfestation exercise at Kumasi Airport in the Ashanti region to ensure sanitation.

The disinfestation covered the terminals, arrival halls, and all other departments at the airport including the airport clinic.

The exercise which started around 9:00 pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 aimed at getting rid off insects, rodents and other disease caused organisms at the airport.

Mr Ernest Nutor, the Ashanti Regional vector Control Officer told the media in an interview after the exercise.

He mentioned that,unlike the quarterly disinfection exercise which seek to destroy every virus hiding around the airport to stop the spread of COVID-19 infection, the disinfestation is targeted to prevent rodents and other insects from ruining essential documents in the archives of the Airport.

Among others is to fight against diseases that such organisms will cause.

The Vector control officer indicated that not only in Kumasi, but such activity is simultaneously replicating other airports in the country.

He entreated travellers and workers of the airport to keep the environment tidy in oder to preclude rodents and insects from the airport.
