The Hon. Minister of works and housing and MP for Abuakwa South constituency , yesterday 19th may 2019 visited the family of the late Mr George Somuah Bosompem the 57 -year-old tutor of Salvation Army Basic School Asiakwa in the East Akim municipality of the Eastern region who was brutally beaten to death by some six boys who are currently facing trial at the court of competent jurisdiction.
In view of this , the Hon. Minister Atta Akyea paid a visit to the widow, children and the family of the deceased to commiserate with them and further offered an amount of Two thousand Ghana cedis to the deceased family purposely to buy a befitting Casket to bury Mr. Somuah Bosompem George.
He further pledged that, the NPP fraternity will continue to support the family before during and after the funeral rites of the late George Somuah.
He noted that ,it came as a shock when he became aware of such unlawful and barbaric act by this young people from his constituency, especially from the president’ backyard. He deem it a very bad act and should not be encouraged in every society.
He continued by touching on security system in the constituency, He said ,the security of Asiakwa and it environs must be equipped and also be up and doing .
The government led by H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has promised to strengthen the security in the country.
He noted that, IGP in his plans decided to construct a new police station for the people of Asiakwa and due to some circumstances the government are holding on till further instructions.
The Hon. Minister stressed that, the government is doing everything possible to create employment for every youth in the country and since the creation of jobs are not coming it does not necessarily mean that ,the youth should indulge themselves in any unlawful act such wee and tramadol usage.
He further extended a word of advice to all teachers and heads of school to be self defensive and vigilante when discharging their duties and calm down strike actions because he believes that , their concerns will be addressed the the government.
According to him, the ministry of Education led by Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is putting measures in place to resolve this matter and also said that their request will be addressed through the ministry.
” I am told that, all the teacher Association are calling a state burial for Mr. Somuah Bosompem George as it was done by the late Major Mahama ,the government will come out with a decision when they receive the petition.
He concluded by advising parents and guidance to be up and doing, parents must advice their children in order to desist from bad characters.
Nana Kofi Asomanin chief elect Asiakwa , also expressed his profound gratitude to the minister for showing love and kindness the the bereaved family.
He stated it categorically that the town Asiakwa , is a town of discipline and well cultured and by that, ” I believe that the people of Asiakwa are good enough to be tag with such unpleasant name”
According Nana Kofi Asomanin, as a developing community , there will be some bad people also developing in such communities. But it is left in the bosom of the police to strengthen their operations. A community of about 20,000 can never be managed by five police personnel .
He then pleaded with the Hon. Minister Atta Akyea to do all his possible best to help deploy more men to Asiakwa to avert the numerous crime rate and unlawful act going on in the Asiakwa community and the constituency as a whole.
