One region which has been a swing region is the Western Region. In fact, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the first time won in some constituencies like Sefwi Wiaso. This could be described as unprecedented and commending to the elections campaign carried out by the party.

As the region prepares for its next Executive Elections, one name keeps popping up which keeps enjoying massive support from all party stakeholders especially the grassroot majority is YAA JOSEPHINE ODOOM . Yes a new Yaa Asantewaa has emerged in Western Region to take our women’s front to a different level with her main focus of consolidating and increasing the party’s fortunes in the Region.

Yaa Josephine Odoom was born in Bogoso in the Prestea-Huni Valley Constituency and bread in Tarkwa in the Tarkwa-Nsuam Constituency. Mother from Asanta and Bonyere and Father a native of Huni Valley and Aboso (Peaso) all in the Western Region of Ghana.

She had her primary Education at Tarkwa Methodist School, Secondary education in Huni Valley Secondary. Tertiary Education at Takoradi Polytechnic and Pentecost University College Accra.

Brief Political Profile
The “Yaa Asantewaa” of Western Region has a very rich political experience spanning from 1992 contributing and supporting party activities especially in the Western Region. She served as a NPP Polling Agent in 1996 when the NPP party went into an alliance with the CPP to present a Parliamentary Candidate for Tarkwa Nsueam Constituency. She was also a Polling Agent both in 2000 and 2004 elections at Abontuako Tarkwa Aboso respectively under the candidature of Hon. Gifty Eugenia Kusi. She volunteered as a Polling Agent in 2008 in the Weija Constituency.

Additionally, “Yaa Asantewaa” was very vibrant with volunteer groups that campaigned in Western, Eastern, Brong Ahafo and Greater Regions which ensured the party won the 2016 elections resoundingly. She was part of the mobilization base of Volunteers (V16) nationally and Greater Accra Region particularly.

Yaa is a founding member of TESCON Pentecost University Branch in August 2008, where she served as the first Secretary and later became the Second Vice President.

Beside her rich political background, Yaa Josephine is affable, a team player and a result oriented woman with exceptional skills in mobilization. Being a household name in the Region, Yaa Josephine stands to bring the feminine touch that the region needs to consolidate the votes in 2020.
