Women Advocacy Network (WAN) Shows Appreciation To MCE


The Women Advocacy Network (WAN), a social group in the University of Energy and Natural Resources on Wednesday, 6th February, 2019 paid a visit to the Municipal Chief Executive of the Sunyani East Municipal, Hon. Evelyn Ama Kumi- Richardson.

The delegation was led by the founder of WAN, Ms. Janat Issifu and other members of the women group. The founder on behalf of the members of WAN expressed her inestimable gratitude to the MCE for her tremendous support and guidance towards the group’s first project dubbed “WAN HELP BUILD SOCIETY PROJECT”.

The project sought to support deprived basic schools in the Brong Ahafo Region. The first school to have enjoyed the fruits of this project was the Ayakomaso Methodist Basic School in the Sunyani west district. WAN With the support of the MCE and other stakeholders provided teaching and learning materials to the aforementioned basic school. Some of the materials provided include Exercise books, Text books, Past questions, board instruments, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, postal colours, and many more.

A citation of honor on behalf of all WAN members was presented to Hon. Evelyn Ama Kumi- Richardson to appreciate the MCE for being a supportive and an industrious leader.

The MCE Hon. Evelyn Richardson, with joy thanked the team for it’s kindness and cautioned the group to be more focused in the discharge of it’s duties. She also added that the WAN should also focus on the younger generations, empower them and give them positive directions to prepare them for the future. She again assured the group of her availability and commitment towards ensuring the well-being of the people.
