The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alfred Amoah, on Friday, 11th October, 2019, commissioned an ultra-modern toilet facility under the one million dollar, one constituency projects policy through the ministry of special development initiatives.
Speaking at a short ceremony to commission a 10 seater toilet facility situated at Bibiani Senior High School.
The MCE said, Bibiani Municipality has benefited from various projects apart from three toilet facilities situated at different institutions within Municipality such as Bibiani Senior Technical School (BISEC), Bibiani College of Health Sciences and Sefwi Bekwai Senior School (SEBESS) respectively.
Other projects were, one ware house at Sefwi Bekwai, three mechanized boreholes, market and hospital equipment to Bibiani government hospital all under the special development initiatives which are also expected to be commission soon. He stressed.
Hon. Mavis Hawa Komsom, minister of the special development initiatives who was expected to commission the ultra-modern toilet facility in Bibiani Senior High Technical School (BISEC) in the Western North Region, was represented by Dr. Baffour Awuah, technical advisor for the ministry of the special development initiatives.
According to him, the one million dollar per constituency is a new a policy introduced by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under infrastructure poverty eradication programme (IPEP) under the IPEP. Each of the constituencies is allocated the equivalency development initiatives of their choice, managed and implemented by the three development authorities namely Northern Development Authority, Middle Belt Development Authority and Coastal Development Authority under the office of the president and supervised by the Minister responsible for special development initiatives.
He revealed that, over 1000 toilet facilities built across the country, these projects form part of the President Akufo – Addo’s one million per constituency projects initiative introduced upon assumption of power and also to fulfil the promise made during the 2016 campaign.
Dr. Awuah also tasked the school authorities to ensure regular maintenance of the facility so as to serve the purpose of which it was established.
Mr. Stephen Kwadzo Dandey, the Head Master of Bibiani Senior High Technical School who spoke on behalf of the management staff and the entire school commended the government and thanked the MCE for this modern toilet facility.
He said, the toilet facility would go a long way to end open defecation on campus and promise, the school authorities will do everything possible to protect the facility for the next generation.
