“We are one people”, these are the words of Barima Yetumi Boamang, Chief of Staff for Okyehene after a dinner between Asantehene and Okyehene during the launch of, ” Head of State invitational tournament on Saturday, 16th June, 2018 in Kumasi.
According to Barima Yetumi Boamang, people are trying to imagine conflict which does not exist between the Okyehene, Nana Amoatia Ofori-Panin and the owner of Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu.
“There is no rift between the King of Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu and Okyehene Amoatia Ofori-Panin”, Chief of Staff for Okyehene, Barima Yetumi Boamang indicated to Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Kessben Media morning show, ” Maakye”.
The Chief of Staff for Okyehene Amoatia Ofori-Panin espoused further that, the suppose loggerheads between the two powerful chiefs in the country are just perception which has dominated the airwaves.
He reiterated that Nana Amoatia Ofori-Panin and Otumfuo Osei Tutu have a strong relationship between them. He added that the two chiefs normally meet to discuss issues, just that they do that at the blind side of the media so pictures of their meetings don’t come out.
He added that whenever the Okyehene takes a trip to Kumasi, Ashanti Regional Capital, they pay courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu.
He expressed gratitude to Otumfuo for hosting them in such a memorable event. He added that even if there was a perception that there existed a rift between the two chiefs, the event organised which the two eminent chiefs had dinner with the President of Ghana shows that things are well between the duo.
This comes at the backdrop of Ghana Golf Association Tournament named, “Head of State Invitational Golf Tournament”, which the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was present in Kumasi to launch the tournament.
The two chiefs, Nana Amoatia Ofori-Panin and Otumfuo Osei Tutu were invited as influential people and Golfer themselves in the country to participate in the launch of the tournament and eventual dinner organized to commemorate the event.
The entourage of the Okyehene was unfortunately involved in accident on their way back but no casualties were recorded. Two people were sent to hospital but our source says they are responding to treatment.
