WASSCE candidate gang-raped in Tema

A 21-year-old Home Economics student taking part in the ongoing West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has been subjected to sexual assault by four boys.

The act was captured on a video recording and has since gone viral on social media.

In the explicit video, the victim is seen lying on her back while four boys, believed to be in their early 20s, take turns to have sex with her in a wooden structure at Community 5, Tema, while recording the act with a phone.

After the rape, one of the boys allegedly gave the girl GHS10 to buy a contraceptive.

The 10-minute sex video making the rounds in the metropolis has caused consternation, especially among colleague students.

Checks have revealed that three of the boys are SHS leavers, while the other is a JHS 2 pupil.

The victim was allegedly lured to the location by one of the suspects, whose name was given as Douglas, supposedly her boyfriend, under the guise of having a discussion.

The victim was led by Douglas into the wooden structure, where she gave in to his demands for sex. Douglas later invited three of his friends, who laid ambush, to have sex with her.

The Tema Regional Police have commenced investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, the victim’s father, who only gave his name as Agya, has told Chief Jerry Forson that he hopes the police will do a good job and bring the perpetrator to book.

He said: “I could not even watch the video, I don’t even want to see it. At the moment I have been counselling my child to take her out of the trauma she has been through.”
