Honourable Freda Prempeh New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Tano North Constituency in the Brong-Ahafo Region has lambasted the Minority in Ghana’s parliament for their ‘unparliamentary’ behaviour when they revealed placards with the inscription ‘Bloody Widow’ during the swearing in of Madam Seyram Alhassan who recently won the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election after the death of her husband Kyemateng Agyarko who was the MP.
The Tano North legislator quoted the Holy Bible in her condemnation of the minority behaviour during her swearing in which has attracted backlash from feminist groups accross the country.
Honourable Freda Prempeh quoted Exodus 22:22-24 in an interview with Omanhene on Kessben TV/FM which reads: 22 “Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. 23 If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. 24 My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.
There are calls from several feminist groups that has requested the Minority to apologise to Ghanaians and women in general. Prominent among them include the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Queen Mothers Association of Ghana and the NPP women caucus in parliament.
