Jonas Eriksson has been handed the match between Ghana against the USA as center referee in Natal in the two countries World Cup opener today.
FIFA announced its referee selections on Saturday for the Group G match.
Eriksson, who is 40 years of age, officiated two matches at Uefa EURO 2012 and second leg of the CONMEBOL/AFC play-off between Uruguay and Jordan in November 2013.
He is a full-time referee and will be assisted by fellow nationals Mathias Klasenius and Daniel Warnmark.
Tahiti’s Norbert Hauata is the fourth official.
