There are about 100 communities in Sekyere Afram Plains District in the Ashanti Region but apart from the district capital, Drobonso, access to mobile network (phone call) is in futility.
Sekyere Afram Plains is one of the districts that contribute immensely to the food basket of the Ashanti Region but at this modern mobile-phone society, phone calls are problematic in Hamidu, Anyonofi, Babaduasu, Dagomba, among other communities.
There is no gainsaying of the fact the use of mobile phone has become a package of human life in modern society.
But apart from poor road condition troubling the district, inaccessibility to mobile network, tallies to the woes of the people in the district.
The trouble of mobile network spans from the fact that during emergency situations, including the need for assistance on ill-health, victims are unable to reach the appropriate quarters for help.
We have monitored in media circles, the Ministry of Communication commissioning Community Information Centres (CICs) in rural Ghana to revamp some of these telecommunication challenges.
We are however, appealing to the Minister of Communication, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful, to help Sekyere Afram Plains get CICs to hook the deprived communities to telecommunication.
