Today marks the end of the President’s 4-day tour in the Ashanti Region. The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during the tour had discussions with some traditional and religious leaders, cut sod for new projects, inspected ongoing projects and commissioned new ones.
Upon arrival, the President visited the palace of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to announce his presence in his Region and also have a high level discussion with the King.
The President also inaugurated the Greater Kumasi Roads Facelift project. It constitutes the construction of about 150km of Asphatic overlay, 145km of Resealing and 180km of Rehabition and Reconstruction of Kumasi roads. It is our fervent hope that this project eases the traffic on our roads and make them safer for motorists.
1 DISTRICT 1 FACTORY
The President inspected the progress of work on two 1D1F projects; Vester oil mills factory at Deduako in the Bosomtwe Municipality and Kumasi Jute Factory in the Asokwa Municipality. The Kumasi Jute Factory is one of the dead factories that are been resurrected under the 1D1F program. The President also commissioned U-bolt, a 1D1F project in the Asokwa Municipality. This indigenous and fully owned Ghanaian factory specializes in the production of springs and bolts. The President further pledged a 5-year tax holiday for this factory.
The President cut sod for the construction of a 150 affordable housing facility in the Atwima Nwabiagya District which is christened after the Former President of Ghana, H.E. John Agyekum Kuffour. This affordable housing project is made up of 2 bedroom units, 3 bedroom units and 4 bedroom units.
MEET THE PRESS
The President met the media for a press session on the fourth day of his tour. The President responded to question which ranged from the construction of an Ashanti Regional Press Centre, transparency and accountability, and the vision of the President for Ashanti Region.
