Prestea Communicators for Development is appealing to new GNPC Boss, Dr. KK Sarpong and the President, Nana Akufo-Addo to save Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited from complete destruction.
Information available to Prestea Communicators for Development has it that the performance of the company has been unhealthy in recent times.
Prestea Sankofa Gold Ltd owned by Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is the only state gold mining company located in Prestea in the Western Region of Ghana.
The company employs close to three hundred workers directly as well as other indirect workers.
A statement signed by Comrade Francis Eshun, president of Prestea Communicators for Development states that the General Manager of the Company, Mr. Lawrence Yankson has been asked to step aside. The Board of Governors of the Company has also been dissolved.
Another damaging revelation is that workers of the company have not been paid for the past eight months.
It’s also revealed that PSGL owes hugely “registered small scale miners” whose mineralised dumps (tailing from small scale mining concerns) has been purchased by the company.
“It is worthwhile to note that over 80% of the workers are from Prestea, and if the company is allowed to go down, the good people of Prestea, husbands, wives and Children who all depend on the company for their livelihoods will suffer severely”.
“Prestea Communicators for Development is therefore appealing to new GNPC Boss, Dr. KK Sarpong and H.E Nana Addo Danqua Akuffo Addo’s government to save the company from annihilation”.
