Robbery attacks in Kumasi; Baker shot in the arm

A baker in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital has been attacked and shot by armed robbers.

The defenseless baker and her family were robbed of Gh¢ 13,500 and shot in the arm during a scuffle with the heavily armed men.

This latest incident comes in the wake of increasing robbery incidents in the Ashanti region which has become a concern for residents.

Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Godwin Ahianyoh who confirmed the incident to Nhyira FM said the victim who survived the attack is responding to treatment.

“According to the victims, they broke into their home, that is the bakery; robbed them of GH¢13,500 and bolted.

Tanko who was mentioned during the press briefing as an ex-convict we suspected to be perpetuating this crime has been identified as the one who actually shot the victim. We are still on the heels of these suspected criminals out there who are terrorizing innocent criminals,” he said.

On Tuesday the Ashanti regional Police Command arrested 10 people believed to be the brain behind the series of armed robberies that have rocked the Kumasi metropolis in the last two weeks.

The 10 suspects included two females who are alleged to be the financiers of one of the four gangs believed to be behind the armed robberies in the capital and its environs.

The names of the suspects were given by the police as Ama Serwah, Akwasi Adjei, Richard Owusu, Adoagyiri Asana, Sandra Adu Gyamfi, Suleman Safiano, Azana Kassim and Kwame Anafo.

The identities of two others were given only as Alonso and Tanko.
