Police must step up investigations into robbery attack on Sekyere Afram Plains MP’ – Concerned Citizen

ON Monday, August 14, 2017 at 6.40 pm, three young men suspected to be robbers attacked the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekyere Afram Plains at Akotosu near Wonoo in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.

Thank God they did not open fire on the MP and his driver who were travelling on their Mahindra with registration number BA 830-15. They were from Kumasi and heading towards Kumawu to sleep over and attend a meeting at Drobonso on Wednesday.

Though our MP, Alex Adomako Mensah is alive, the incident calls for thorough investigations.

According to him, he surrendered his bag containing his MP’s ID Card, GH¢5,000.00, keys to his house in Accra and office at Parliament House, three different cheque books, a stamp pad and some confidential documents.

He was said to have reported the matter to the Kumawu Police and subsequently informing the Ashanti Regional Police Commander.

The area, especially, between Effiduase and Kumawu, is gaining notoriety in robbery attacks and this is the time to bring the situation under control.

It is in the light of this that as a Concerned Citizen of Sekyere Afram Plains, I call on the Police at Kumawu and Effiduase and the entire Ashanti Regional Police Command to step up investigations into the robbery attack on our MP.

Our MP is doing his work and helping to develop Sekyere Afram Plains and he has the support of almost constituent in his development agenda and under no circumstance should his security be compromised.

The Police must also strategise to beef up security in the area to clamp down on the activities of these miscreants.
