Groups of suspected armed robbers who have allegedly involved in series of robbery activities have today being assembled at the forecourt of the central police headquarters in Kumasi.
These suspects numbering about fifty are aged between 15 and 44 years involving a lady. The police said they are heading these suspects to court for judgment earlier this week .
Briefing the media this morning, A.C.P Ampofo Duku the deputy Ashanti regional police commander said, most of these suspects conducted their attacks around Manso and other mining areas where the galamsey workers are perceived to be hoarding gold and monies.
The worst of all the robbery activities happened on Wednesday 03/08/2016 at about 21:30 hours involving four men wielding guns laid ambush at the entrance of victim Nasiru Gulet’s house at Asokore Mampong and attacked him immediately he entered the house .
They demanded for his bag which he resisted. They shot him in the palm and succeeded in robbing him of GhC 35,000.00 and bolted amidst firing.
Police intelligence later revealed that, the robbery was conducted by wanted man Emmanuel Nyamekye alias 50 Cent, Kwado Asare alias Lumba, Yaw Gyima alias Scorpion and Isaac Ofosuhene.
However, when police besieged them for arrest upon in formation reaching them, these suspected robbers begun exchanging guns with the police when led to the death of 50 Cent and Lumba.
Their bodies were laid at the forecourt of central police headquarters in Kumasi for media coverage.
