Polack Says His Job Is Not To Score Goals Or To Teach The Basics Of Scoring As The Kotoko Players Ain’t Academy Players

Asante Kotoko head coach Steve Polack has thrown a heavy shot back at critics saying as a “coach he’s not expected to be in front of the goal line to bang in the goals for the Kumasi based football club.

Polack since joining Asante Kotoko has been consistently criticized for the inability of his strikers to score more goals. Among the top four clubs in the ongoing Ghana premier league, Asante Kotoko is the club with the lowest scoring ratio.

Many have thus questioned Polack for his inability to make a clinical forward line out of the many attacking players at his disposal but the former B.Chelsea coach thinks otherwise.

Steve Pollack reacting to the concerns at the post match press conference of the Bolga All Stars game stated that for a premier league player as his strikers, it is not his job to teach them the basics of scoring as they ain’t Academy players.

“The coach is not the one in front of the goal; the coach is not doing that. As a player, you have to take responsibility.

So the next question is, what is the coach’s job at training? We [Kotoko] are not an academy, we are a premier team. You don’t learn things like that.

“In England, premier players have to keep the ball and have to shoot past the goalkeeper, you just put them in position and they have to do that. So it’s not actually our job to do that,” Polack Stressed.
