Alfred Kwame Ofori, a Ghanaian born business man in the United States of America with the support of some old students has donated some items and learning materials to Akosa M/A JHS at Suntreso in the Ashanti region of Ghana.
Mr Ofori, even though not a past student of the said school but took the challenge following his visit to the Akosa school and realising the numerous setbacks confronting the school.
He was however motivated on humanitarian grounds to donate numerous items including two sets of mower, set of computer, note and exercise books, teachers desks, numerous texts books and everything needed to make a modern computer laboratory functional.
The donation is in line with the benefactor’s commitment to supporting the needy and keep to the goal of contributing to the grid, and also to ensure that his corporate social responsibility takes care of the people in the communities in which he operates.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Akosa school, Mrs Cynthia Osei Poku the headmistress of the school expressed gratitude for the donor’s act of kindness.
“We are eternally grateful for this kind gesture. You have brought us much more than we could imagine and we are sure these items will help put smiles on the children’s faces during their academic journeys,” she said.
Mrs Cynthia however pleaded with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly(KMA) to hand over the structure prepared for the school which was completed over three years ago and can at least help to store their books and computers.
