Peter Antwi Boasiako Writes: Any Difference Between Agyarko’s Decision On Ameri And That Of Ken Ofori-Atta’s Re-Profiling Of Ghana’s Ghc2.25 Billion Debts?

I am not surprised that many Ghanaians seems suspicious about the manner in which Energy Minister Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko was given the sack by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

We were told that the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta re-profiled part of Ghana debts to the tune of Ghc2.25 billion, by getting a new financial institution to take up the debts which have high interest rate, paid off the Ghc2.25 billion, and the new company gave Ghana a lower interest rate and extended the years for repayment. That was fine, I guess!

Boakye Agyarko also renegotiated the AMERI power plant deal, got new company to take up the existing debt of $339 million debt left to pay on the AMERI plant, the new company pays off the existing debts to Ameri, gives Ghana a lower interest and extended the years to 15 years for repayment. And Agyrko is done for it? He is been penalised for taken same decision? Why?

Even at the time when all due diligence was require, the ACEP has already pointed out what they thought was wrong with the deal before Presidential approval to parliament, the President then signs it and the following day, we were told the President was misled? Misled by who? We still don’t know!
Something definitely don’t add up.

I personally think Agyarko has been mistreated. Our own gov’t has not treated him fairly at-all.

Some say he has got Presidential ambition, and so what? What is wrong with having a Presidential ambition? Would one become President if the person never had the ambition to become President? I don’t get it one bit!

Indeed, all animals are equal but obviously, some animals are more equal than others.
