The Okomfo Anokye hospital has seen the need to build hostels for friends and families of patients admitted within the hospital.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the hospital, Kwame Frimpong in an interview with Kessben Fm/Tv flagship political program Maakye said the decision by the authorities was due to the struggle visitors goes through before or after visiting their patients at the hospital.
According to him, visitors who travel from the outskirts of Kumasi struggle to return but because of no accommodation within the hospital they turn to sleep on floors of the hospital.
The situation he said has awoken the authorities of the hospital to seek a remedy. In finding the remedy, the hospital brought out three options, the first option was to hire a nearby house in order to rent for the visitors, but unfortunately the hospital realized the visitors couldn’t pay because the estimated amount was expensive.
The second option according to Mr. Frimpong was an appeal to the district assemblies to help put up the hostel, but that option couldn’t work due to ‘some reasons’.
Finally, a private developer was contacted to negotiate a possible deal of constructing a hostel for the hospital but unfortunately that deal couldn’t go through because of financial reasons.
Mr. Frimpong further revealed to Kessben media that the hospital has appealed the government to come to their aid in solving this problem.
“We’re asking the government to come to our aid in order to help solve this problem.” He pleaded.
