The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) will commence it’s 51st Annual Residential Delegates Congress today Thursday 16th November, 2017.
The Congress which commences today at the Dansoman campus of the Methodist University College is expected to last for four days and end on Sunday 19th November, 2017 where the 51st set of National Officers shall be elected.
The Congress which will be held under the theme “Solidarity in diversity through formidable NUGS structures” is expected to have personalities such as the Deputy National Director of the National Service Gifty Oware, Mr.John Kumah ESQ- Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan(NEIP), Mr. William Yamoah from the Office of the President and a former NUGS President (2006/2007), Mr. Irbard Ibrahim-CEO of IRBARD SECURITY CONSULT, Principal of Methodist University College(MUC), Prof. Asabere Ameyaw, Dean of Students of MUC Madam Victoria Tsedzah and Vice Principal of MUC Very Rev. Joseph Edusa-Eyison gracing its opening Ceremony and Symposium on Friday.
In all 24 aspirants have filed to contest for the 10 available positions within the Union namely President, General Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Controller, Coordinating Secretary, Press and Information Secretary, Projects and Programs Secretary, International Relations Secretary, Education and Democratization Secretary and Women’s Commissioner with the Daily Statesman’s Dominic Matasa Blay seeking to take over from a colleague Daily Statesman Reporter Kwasi Frimpong as the press and Information Secretary.
