NPP Urges All Ghanaians To Join In The Celebration Of The 25th Anniversary Of The Fourth Republic

As Ghana prepares to mark the Silver Jubilee and for that matter the 25th Anniversary of the Fourth Republic, the NPP implores all Ghanaians to join in the celebration of this significant landmark in the nation’s constitutional democracy. The Fourth Republic which was birthed in 1993 would be exactly 25 years on January 7, 2018 and thus, proves to be the most enduring Republic in the country’s history since Independence.

This is the longest period the country has enjoyed ‘constitutional sanity’ without any military interventions which characterized the previous Republics. There is therefore every reason for us to give glory to the Almighty for how far He has brought and sustained this country.

It doesn’t also appear that this Republic would ever be truncated by any such unorthodox interventions Insha Allah. Gratitude, they say, is the attitude that takes man to the altitude. And so, let’s thank God and also remind ourselves that we are one people with the same destiny.

It is against this backdrop that the country would be holding an inter-denominational (Christian) and Muslim thanksgiving service on Sunday, 7th January, 2018 at the INDEPENDENCE SQUARE, Accra [3pm] to mark the Silver Jubilee of the coming into being of the Fourth Republican Constitution.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is NOT a partisan activity but a NATIONAL EVENT expected to be graced by all our former and present political leaders, civil societies, religious leaders, the diplomatic community, chiefs and indeed the ordinary members of the Ghanaian society regardless of their political persuasions. The dress code for the event is all-white attire or anything Ghanaian (i.e. our national colours).

The NPP also wishes to use this occasion to commend President Nana Akufo-Addo for the historic meeting he held yesterday with the leaders of all the political parties at the Flagstaff House to inter alia, engage them in the preparations towards Sunday’s national event.

Once again, let’s meet and mark this important milestone in the life of our dear nation.

Thank you.

…Signed…
