Organizers of the MTN FA Cup have rubbished reports suggesting their outfit’s interest to see Ghana’s top two clubs Hearts of oak and Asante Kotoko qualify for the final of the MTN FA cup 2017.
Asante Kotoko had to make it to the semi final of the MTN FA cup through what seems to many as dubious and a soft penalty awarded against Nea Salamina on Wednesday.
The coach of Asante Kotoko Steve Polack conceded at the post press conference he didn’t think that was a penalty and stated he felt embarrassed Kotoko had to qualify through what happened.
This, many believed is an orchestrated scheme by the organizers of the FA cup competition to see the top clubs qualify to the final of the competition but Kofi Poku the vice chairman of the MTN FA cup committee has completely rubbished the assertion.
Speaking on Kessben TV after the game Kofi poku admitted it will be good to see the top two clubs make it to the final but should be on merit.
“They’ve a huge army of following and it will be good to see them at the final but that doesn’t mean we’re pulling machination to see them qualify to the final” he noted.
Accra Hearts of oak, Asante Kotoko, Wa All stars and Meadeama SC are the four clubs who made to the semis. A draw is scheduled to to be made on Tuesday for the final pairings before the grand finale.
