Mary Posch-Oduro, a National Treasurer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party-NPP has commended His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for “prophesying” that a woman would one day become President of Ghana.
Addressing a huge crowd of participants at this year’s Global Citizen Festival held in the Central Park in Manhattan, New York, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo predicted that Ghana would one day have a woman President-a statement Madam Mary Posch-Oduro sees as inspiring and refreshing and therefore commends the President on that. According to the National Treasurer hopeful, the President has demonstrated his commitment in ensuring that women are empowered both economically and politically. She mentioned the numerous appointments of women in high political offices and also, as Heads of State Institutions as examples of the President’s commitment. Mary Posch-Oduro believes such commitments with deeds would go a long way to realizing the “prophesy” of the President-that, one day a woman would become President of Ghana. “For this prophesy to become a reality of having a woman as a President of this country, what we women need is political leverage. What we need is equal political opportunity and a fair play. I believe when we look around us, we have very competent women in the Party and in Government. With little support and encouragement the sky would surely be our limit”. Madam Mary Posch-Oduro opined. She therefore admonishes women to eschew complacency and continue to be shine both in politics and corporate and business world.
