Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Hon Robert Ahomka-Lindsay met the Sekyere East District Assembly, some SME’s and some chiefs in the District about opportunities for job creation within the District as part of the One District One factory policy.
He appealed to the assembly to liase with the Traditional Authorities to provide land which is a major challenge to entrepreneurs, companies and individuals who want to set up factories and businesses and identify the major industrial property which has the capacity to lift the economy based on the District Economic Plan.
He said his ministry has received over 400 business proposals from companies and individuals but none from Sekyere East District. He appealed to the DCE, Hon Mary Boatemaa Marfo and the assembly to expedite their efforts in securing 51000 acres of land for the policy.
The District Chief Executive Hon Mary Boatemaa Marfo assured the minister that the assembly will meet the Traditional Authorities from Asokore and Effiduasi and appealed to them about the issue and the need to create jobs in the District for the youth to get some to do. She said job creation is a major priority of the government and as a matter decentralisation, DCE’S who represents the president at the District levels will not relent on their efforts to help achieve the policy of the government
