LG Electronics and Somotex, both global leaders and technology innovators in consumer electronics, have launched the world’s first largest and slimmest curved OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TV into the Ghanaian market.
With the World Cup just weeks away, the launch of the 55-inch OLED TV marks a new era in home entertainment with its curved screen which combines the company’s industry-leading Cinema 3D technology with smart TV capabilities.
The new OLED TV follows the introduction of the world’s first 84-inch Ultra HD TV in 2012 and compliments the LG core OLED TV family’s unique design.
Only 4.3mm thick and weighing just 17 kg, the Curved Oled TV also features a transparent crystal stand and forward-facing speakers aimed at delivering flawless audio with remarkable fidelity in the mid to high frequency ranges.
Technically, the response speed of the LG OLED TV is over 100 times faster than LED TV, allowing fast-moving scenes to be completely blur-free and for crystal clear pictures.
“With more than five years of research dedicated to develop the optimum curvature, the entire screen surface is equidistant from the viewer’s eyes eliminating the problem of screen-edge visual distortion and loss of detail,” Pallav Rastogi, senior manager at Somotex, said at the launch of the product in Accra.
