Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Ethics Committee, the Adjudicatory Chamber on Friday 8th June, 2018 temporarily banned the President of Ghana Football Association, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi from all football related activities.
According to the Chairperson of the Adjudicatory Chamber of the Ethics Committee, Mr Nyantakyi is temporary banned for a period of ninety (90) days with possible extension not exceeding forty five (45) days to allow the body investigate and come out with their findings.
“During this time, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi is banned from all football activities at both national and international level (administrative, sports or any other). The ban comes into force immediately”, the statement added.
The statement indicated the decision to ban Mr Nyantakyi was taken upon the Chairperson of the Investigatory Chamber of the Ethics Committee request to conduct formal investigation proceedings into Mr Nyantakyi, pursuant to Article 83 par.1 and Article 84 par.2 of the Federation of International Football Association Code of Ethics.
This comes at the backdrop of Anas’ corruption exposé into Ghana football which the President of Ghana Football Association is allegedly caught on footage meddling in corrupt practices. The documentary was premiered on Wednesday 6th and 7th June, 2018 at Accra International Conference Center which thousands thronged the venue to grab a glimpse of what Anas’ video entailed.
Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi was arrested on 23rd May,2018 at Kotoka International Airport upon his arrival from Morocco by Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service and he (Nyantakyi) was subsequently granted police enquiry bail.
