Kumawood Stars Pays Working Visit To Tourism Minister

A -Nine (9) Member kumasi Based Local Film Artists, otherwise known as Kumawood, led by a Film producer, Mr. Samuel Nyamekye, paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, at her office in Accra, on the 15th of July, 2019.

Briefing the Minister, Mr, Samuel Nyamekye, who was apparently enthused by the warm courtesies accorded to him and his team indicated that the purpose of their visit was to show their unflinching support to the Sector Minister, Hon. Barbara Gyasi, quest to boost Ghana,s Tourism industry.

He said they are to officially also to extend an invitation to Hon. Barbara Gyasi, for their event slated to come- off on the 20th October, 2019, under the umbrella Name Miracle Films, Which is celebrating it’s 20th year,s Anniversary.

According to him, the Miracle Film has been a pilla in nurturing and managing of both the budding and top Kumahud Artists in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

This, he mentioned some prominent Kumawood Artists who has been brought into the limelight, according to him they are :Nana Ama Mcbrown, Agya Koo, Akwasi Boadi(Akrobeto) Emilia Brobbey, Bill Asamoah amongst others.

Mr. Nyamekye further recounted that Miracle Films has also been recognized in the African continent and has in that regards partnered the Nigeria Artists with the likes of Pete Edochie, Pat Atta, Liz Benson, Tony Omens and a host of other Nigeria Film Stars.

He said The forth coming ceremony is to be anchored on the theme, ”RISE AND BUILD AGAIN” which is seeking to re-invigorate their Films enterprise for the Socio- cultural and economi advancement for it’s patrons and the country at large.

On her part, Nana Ama Mcbrown, emphasized that Kumahud is a Multi Billion Dollar industry, and has the propensity to employ the teaming unemployed youth in the country, who have passion in the industry, therefore, there was an urgent need to for government to turn the fortunes of the sector.

Hon.Barbara-Oteng used the rare privileged commend the group for blazing the trail in the Local Movie industry in Ghana.

She reiterated that government under H. E Nana Akuffo Addo, is fervently working to change the narratives in the Ghana’s Tourism Sector.

Hon. Barbara Gyasi, stressed that the elevation of the Ministry to the rank of a cabinet status, and governments effort in seeing to the realization of the Creative Artist Bill, and Copy Right Court are clear indication of government unwavering commitment to better their lots.

She further assured them of honouring their invitation in making it a memorable one.

Present at the Meeting with Hon.Minister, were, The Chief Director of the Ministry, Alhaji Abudulai Yakubu, The Creative Arts Focal Officer of MoTAC Mrs. Josephine Ohene Agyekum, The Director of the Creative Artists, Mr. Mark Okuraku Mantey, a Seasoned Film Producer, Mr. Socrate Safo and the Public Affairs Manager of MoTAC, Mr. Alhassan Abubakar Sadik,

whiles the notable visiting guests who accompanied Mr. Nyamekye, were Nana Ama Mcbrown, Akwasi Omomo Asamoah(Big Akwes,) Abraham Kofi Asuman Davis(Salinko), Mavis Adjei, and Akoua Boafo, respectively.
