Nigeria will face their bitterest rivals in West Africa, Ghana in the WAFU 2017 Championship at the Cape Coast stadium on Sunday.
The super green eagles CHAN team on Thursday beat Benin 1-0 in the first semi final game of the WAFU tournament. Aliu Rabiu’s goal in the first half of game was solidly protected by the Nigerians to the blast of the referee’s whistle.
In the subsequent game, Ghana prevailed over Niger to book a place in the grand finale in a game which was an end to end affair.
Accra Hearts of Oak’s forward Kwame Kizito opened the score at 31st minute with a wonderful header to put Ghana in the lead. Ghana’s victory was cemented by Berekum Chelsea’s key man Stephen Sarfo’s 79minute goal to make it 2-0.
This will be the second time both teams will be meeting in the tournament. Nigeria beat Ghana 2-0 in the final game of the group matches when Ghana had already secured qualification to the next round.
