The recently appointed Board member of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) and an aspiring National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic party whilst attending to a conference in Beijing took time off his busy schedule to share his joy in the landmark judgement that went in favour of Ghana at the international Tribunal on the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).
Below is the write up on his social media handle:
Ghana on 23rd September, 2017 was adjudged winners in a landmark maritime dispute between Ghana and Ivory Coast at the international Tribunal on the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).
The unison nature with which Ghanaians received the good news came to affirm our believe as a people that “what unites us is greater than what divides us.”
As a country, we have always had our religious, tribal and political differences, but we have always proven to the world that there is a true definition to “Unity in Diversity”.
The ruling according to the experts is that Ghana is most likely going to make some territorial gains. Our oil reserve is thus 100% in tact.
They further argue that our winning has indeed helped us in gaining more territories in the area in dispute.
Whiles I write to congratulate our legal team led by the Attorney General, Madam Gloria Akufo and the former attorney Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, I wish to state that this is indeed a ” Victory for Unity”.
I therefore congratulate the past government for resulting to the court in resolving this delicate and a potential explosive issue and I congratulate the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo led government for continuing with the case.
We may have our differences as a country but we shall always be bound by the things that unite us most.
May Allah Continue to bless us all.
