Joe Mettle is gradually becoming an international gospel brand – Gertrude Oduro of Getty & Friends fame

Is no doubt that the first and only gospel artiste to be awarded VGMA Artiste of the Year, Joe Mettle, is on his way to becoming a global gospel star and according to Pastor Gertrude Oduro, a former member of defunct gospel group, Getty & Friends, the ‘Boo No Ni’ hitmaker is one of the few artistes taking Ghana’s gospel music to the world stage. She made this assertion in an intriguing interview with Fante Quoo of Inside Prime Page.

Pastor Getty revealed that she is not just a big fan of Joe Mettle but also believes the young Ghanaian gospel singer is one of the few acts in Ghana currently doing ‘real’ gospel music.

Pastor Gertrude also opined that though she wouldn’t dare judge any Ghanaian gospel musician, she personally feels that there are some gospel musicians in the country who don’t really understand the true purpose of the gospel music genre.

She established that the current trend of gospel music and the controversial lifestyles of certain gospel acts in Ghana doesn’t really bother her, as she believes God is the only being who can judge and punish people for their evil deeds.

She explained that during her prime, the gospel musicians, who are now veterans, were not in competition with one another but rather supported and complemented each other.

Pastor Gertrude finally, assured her fans that though she is not actively doing music for now she is hopeful of releasing some new songs in the near future.
