Ghanaian actress and television personality, Joselyn Dumas, in an exclusive interview with Jerry Wonder, said that hardwork, proper branding, positive thinking are the necessary elements required for success. Her statement has become very relevant especially at a time when young Ghanaian ladies are striving to climb the ladder of success in the face of social challenges unique to women. She is one of the few Ghanaian women who has had a steady rise from humble beginnings to becoming a well known face in Ghana and other countries across Africa.
She said “I know for a fact that hard work pays. Rome wasn’t built in a day. I didn’t start off driving a Jaguar or a Range Rover…..my first car was a Toyota Matrix, and then, I got a call for the Range Rover Evoque. So you see, it’s a gradual process. You have to work hard on yourself, work hard on achieving your dreams.” She acknowledged other factors such as perseverance, education and the art of being able to reinvent oneself into attracting positive energy everyday as key in helping women achieve success in their communities. With regards to female celebrities, she said, “once you build a brand it becomes easier for other brands to want to be affiliated with you. You don’t have to sleep around for money.” In response to the gender discrimination against women in Ghana, she appealed to women to be each others keeper. “Also, we need to look out for each other as women in this country so we can all be mentors to young girls”, she explained.
Joselyn is the current face of the new Jaguar E – PACE as part of her ambassadorial deal with Alliance Motors. Previously, she was the face of the Range Rover Evoque and currently co – hosts a radio programme on Joy FM.
