The Ghana Free Zones Authority met with Non-Free Zone Enterprises operating within the Tema Export Processing Zone at its Head Office to discuss pertinent issues on their operations within the Enclave.
Issues discussed at the meeting included the provision of Bussing and Catering services tolling services at the Enclave, destruction of facilities and environmental pollution amongst others.
The CEO of the Authority, Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi assured the Companies that his outfit will do all within its power to protect their interest.
PROCEDURES TO BECOME A FREE ZONE COMPANY
Investors are required to go through the following application procedure to obtain a Free Zone license
1. Incorporate a company in Ghana with the Registrar General’s Department.
2. Obtain and complete the GFZA Application Form (US$ 100) and submit with the following:
a. Business Plan
b. Copy of Certificate of Incorporation
c. Copy of Certificate to Commence Business
d. Copy of Company’s code
e. Evidence of possession/lease of real property or intent to acquire such property
f. MOU with potential clients
g. Environmental Protection Agency Permit
h. Evidence of Funding/Capital Transfer
i. Any other relevant document
3. After completing the application and submitting it with all the necessary and required documents, and upon receipt, GFZA will notify the prospective investor of the status of his/her application for license within 28 working days.
*NB: At least 70% of annual production of goods and services of Free Zone Enterprises must be exported; consequently up to 30% of annual production of goods and services of a free zone enterprise are authorized for sale in the local market*
