Former stalwart defender and now coach, Frimpong Manso, would neither head Kotoko’s technical team nor would he be under Godwin Ablordey, Operations Manager of the club, Ernest Owusu Ansah has explained to Asantekotokosc.com.
Frimpong Manso’s role, according to the Management member, would be advisory. He would not sit on the bench during matches. The Operations Manager provided this clarity on the back of perceived confusion as to whether Frimpong Manso, who’s more experienced than Godwin Ablordey, would serve under the Assistant Coach, who has been tasked to handle Kotoko’s technical affairs in the last four matches of the league’s first round.
Ablordey was handed the latest assignment after the club parted ways with Head Coach, Zdravko Logarusic on Sunday night. Earlier on Tuesday, Management announced that, Coach Frimpong Manso had been brought in to “help and assist” Ablordey.
This, somehow, raised questions in some media quarters – given the gap of experience between the two ex-Kotoko players who are now coaches. The Operations Manager therefore shed more light on the issue.
“Frimpong Manso coming in to help doesn’t mean he will work under Ablordey. That’s not what it implies. Let’s make it clear that, his role will be advisory. Management believes that, Ablordey needs support and help. Frimpong Manso’s presence will add weight to the technical ideas at training and especially ahead of our matches. He will not sit on our bench” stated the Operations Manager.
