Father Campbell’s comment on free shs ‘shameful’ – Yamin

Aspiring ashanti regional chairman of the National Democratic congress, Joseph Yamin has descended heavily on father Campbell on his recent comment asking the president to ignore critics of free shs.

Sounding worried, the former Deputy NADMO coordinator stated that ” At a point, let us know when you’re speaking as a man of God and when you’re speaking as a communicator”.

“I’ve been wondering if the catholic Bishop conference is made up of NPP supporters. This same Bishops issued damning statements asking previous government to return the Guantanamo Bay detainees. The detainees are still under the nose of president Akufo Addo …And all you can ask of the president is to ignore FSHS critics and do what? , who are the critics? He quizzed.

The former deputy Ashanti regional minister revealed that Christ the king school is on the verge of collapse due to free SHS.

” Today when you enroll your ward at Christ the king school, which is part of private schools in Ghana, chances of his passing is slim. I’m surprised the priest doesn’t know this” he should rather be criticising the policy. God have mercy!”.

I’m tempted to believe that he was misquoted, [But] if indeed he said that, then he should come again, Yamin said.

Parish Priest of the Christ the King Church, Rev. Father Andrew Campbell has admonished President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ignore critics of the Free SHS policy.

Father Campbell made the comment when he led the entire Council of his Parish to pay a courtesy call on the President at the Flagstaff House.

The Roman Catholic Priest added that the government’s decision to introduce Free Secondary education is a much welcomed development particularly by the church which has been at the forefront of helping to get Ghanaian Children educated.
