David Kwasi Dotse, a 32 year old man died today Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in the New Abirem police cells.

Akua Ankomah, wife of late Dotse confirmed to Akonoba that, her husband was distressed with some illness in the police cells some months ago where he was
admitted at central hospital in Koforidua.

“He recovered and was discharged which I even sold one of our houses to pay the hospital bills which cost Ghc2000.00 at central hospital in Koforidua. She said

“I was told last week that his sickness has become worse and has been admitted at Abirem Hospital. I visited him only yesterday to give him food” Akua added.

She further explained that, at the hospital her husband told her the policeman on duty the previous night seeing to it that he does not escape assorted him with severe beatings and slaps on the sick bed when the corpora decided to handcuff his
hands whiles his legs had been handcuffed already.

“My husband told me the policeman beat him on the sick bed when he begged him [policeman] not to handcuff his hands because he might wake up to urinate at night. Some nurses even told me too. They said he beat him until he fell from the sick bed to the floor. Some nurses and other patients came to the scene before he
was rescued”. Ankoma cried.

Moreover, the wife said the Ntronan Police commander together with other two policemen came to her house today to inform her of the husband’s death.

“I rushed to the Abirem hospital and the Doctor confirmed to me where he even asked me to pay Ghc200.00 as the hospital bill. I believe the beatings from the
policeman killed my husband” She concluded in grief.
