The former president of the republic of Ghana and the founding father of the National Democratic Congress( NDC), Flt.Lt. Jerry John Rawlings on Sunday at the launch of the party’s campaign in Cape Coast cautioned the party not to be self-complacent but to consider the efficacy of the opposition New Patriotic Party, their contender.
Despite the encouraging crowd at the Atta Mills Memorial stadium in Cape Coast, Ex Prez. Rawlings was not enthused but comparatively reflected the potency of the NPP in contending the NDC in their full capacity.
Rawlings, a.k.a Papa J or Dr. Dr. Boom last Sunday in his usual dramatic approach, also mounted the podium with great suspense. Even though Papa J denied the media of the historical strong headlines yet attempted a revelation of a secret by the first lady, Mrs Laudina Mahama and daughter Zenator Rawlings approaching him on his seat to swallow his notable strong words to safe the Party from any negative reputations.
He however added, the NDC should envisage that they have a great task ahead as long as this year’s election is concerned. The party should not underestimate the NPP as they would pose a great challenge to the NDC.
Then also, the NDC should not allow an undue provocations sway the intentions of the party and stay focus with their visions.
He urged the the party to abide by the principles and values that gave birth to the party and that can only sustain their future.
He finally added that, he would not speak much on this occasion as he reserves his comments till after the general elections when he shall tour the nation to tell Ghanaians how the nation can effectively move forward.
