Churches honour Easter Monday with football gala in Kumasi

Asante Kotoko circle 62 chairman Mr Bismarck Gyasi alias Bisbek on Easter Monday together with his church members celebrated the  holiday at state boys park in Kumasi with a football gala.

The participant churches were Faith Gospel church central, Faith Gospel church Abrefo, Faith Gospel church Abuakwa and Maranatha evangelistic ministry. The competition format was a simple knock out and winners Progressed to the final.

The first match pitted Faith Gospel Abuakwa against Faith Gospel Abrepo which the former won by a goal to nil and second match saw Faith Gospel central defeating Maranatha evangelistic ministry by 2 goals to 1.

The final which was between Faith Gospel central where chairman Bisbek fellowship and Faith Gospel Abuakwa exhibited some high level of football and to some extend aggression which saw a player each from the two teams receiving redcards as a result of dangerous play.

Faith Gospel church central branch however lived up to the billing as host and defeated Faith Gospel Abuakwa branch by a goal to nil to lift the Easter trophy.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Bismark Gyasi reiterated the need to use such holidays to keep the body healthy as in engaging in games of that magnitude rather than going to bars and other social gathering and drinking alcoholic beverages unnecessarily as a way of celebrating easter Monday which is a  statutory public holiday he added.
