Speaking to Class News, a family spokesperson, Samuel Alabi, cautioned individuals in those areas to remain indoors on Thursday or risk spiritual and other consequences.

“During this period, there will be sacred rite performances,” he stated.

“At 10:00pm, people are still [in town] and up to 4:00am people are waking up getting ready for their work and in the night [of the burial] so many things will happen. The gods will come to lead their son home… So we wouldn’t want a situation where normal people will be parading and in the process get possessed or get hurt because there will be a lot of gunshots [too]. So for our human security and spiritual protection, we need to observe this.”
