Brighton and Hove Albion have today won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.
The Seagulls beat Wigan 2-1 in the afternoon, and, with Huddersfield failing to defeat Derby in the late kick-off, Chris Hughton’s side have had their place in the top flight for 2017/18 confirmed.
The south coast club are 14 points clear of the Terriers, with only 12 left to play for.
Brighton manager Chris Hughton has worked wonders since taking charge of the Seagulls midway through the 2014/15 season, and he spoke to Jason Cundy and Danny Gabbidon on the Full Time Phone In, discussing Brighton’s campaign, the fight for the Championship title, and preparations for the Premier League.
On the latter subject, Hughton said: “It [preparations] has already started, and that’s only because you get to a stage in a season where you have to organise, even with regards to things like pre-season.
“You have to try and think about all eventualities, and we have a recruitment department – who are very good and have fared us very well in my time here – that would have had to work on either eventuality.
“That doesn’t necessarily mean you can get the players you want, because that’s the hardest bit. But certainly they will have worked very hard for us to do that.”
