Bonfire has burnt Mr. Andrews Atta Kwadwo, a 72-year-old-retire teacher to death at Mampong in the Ashanti region.
The body of deceased has since been deposited at Asante Mampong Government Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.
The sad event occurred on Friday, January 24, 2020 around 11:00 am after the deceased failed to control a fire he set out to burn bushes on a plot of land he owned.
The elder brother of the deceased, Mr Lawrence Atta Kwadwo accounted to Kessben FM’s correspondent that his twin brother went to burn weeds on a portion of a plot of land he acquired at New site. Adding “I told him to stop due to the scotching sun but he did not heed the advice ”
“… he went without my notice. Later on, I heard people shouting and crying, and quickly went to the site only to find my twin brother dead” he bewailed.
Eyewitness account revealed that as the blaze begun to destroy a nearby plantain-farm, the deceased attempted to control the fire but he was trapped and fell down leading to his untimely death.
Mr Atta disclosed that, the deceased was a known hypertensive. so, he believes that, his twin brother might have had cardiac arrest or suffocation due to the heat and fumes, and couldn’t rise up early because of his ill health.
The unfortunate incident was reported to the police, who proceeded to the scene to retrieve the dead body.
