The most anticipated music event in Ghana, maybe due to the appreciable representation of Nigerian artistes who attract the growing Nigerian community in Ghana, ‘Ghana Meets Naija’, can boast of consistently pulling the largest and most energized music audience in Ghana together under one roof. Come June 9th this year, Empire Entertainment will host a string of chart toping music acts from the two West African giants; Ghana and Nigeria, at the new 20,000 capacity Fantasy Dome in Labadi. This is an annual event with the aim of maintaining and improving the already amicable relationship between the two countries. But this year’s edition might be different.
The line up of artistes for the event suggest an interesting night as the biggest music icon in Ghana who shook the walls of last year’s edition, Shatta Wale, was excluded from the performing acts. But, his music rivals, Stonebwoy, Yaa Pono, and Wizkid, were named as front liners for the show. However, the organizers announced at the launch of the event in Accra that there will be three additional surprise acts on the show. This is what has got fans of the music concert believing that, based on the amicable relationship between the founder of Empire Entertainment, Bola Ray, and the GH Dance Hall King, the temporary nameless acts will include the ‘Gringo’ man himself. Others are speculating that in addition to him will be Nigerian musicians Olamide and Davido.
If Empire Entertainment is able to satisfy fans by pulling this off as predicted, this will confirm EiB Chief Executive Officer, Bola Ray, as indeed the Most Influential Personality in Showbiz in Ghana. This will be pulling off something that even the Ghana Music Awards couldn’t do despite their gigantic Vodafone sponsorship money.
