The pretty faced Samira, gave Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, 2012 vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a new baby boy at a private hospital in the United States last Sunday, ‘News One’ has gathered.
Little did Ghanaians know that all this while Dr Bawumia has been presenting his “pink sheets” to the Supreme Court judges and explaining what he calls electoral irregularities on the face of the pink sheet’, he had actually impregnated his beautiful wife and a baby was being expected.
Samira and Dr. Bawumia are already said to have three children and this new one would be the fourth. He comes at a time Dr Bawumia’s name has almost become synonymous with ‘Pink Sheets’. Samira first met Dr. Bawumia in May 2003, and they got married nine months later in February 2004, at a time both did not have the slightest dream of being in frontline politics. She gave the banker a daughter in December of the same year and they chose to name her Nadia. Two years later, they had another baby boy and named him Mahmoud Junior.
Samira, who grew up in a cosmopolitan environment, picked up several languages including Ewe, Ga, Twi and Fanti. Currently she is learning her husband’s native tongue – Mamprusi. Samira is a beauty contestant-turned politician and the only daughter of Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, the PNC National Chairman.
Samira is a zongo girl who cut her teeth in Islamic education at the Answarudeen Islamic School right in the National Chief Imam’s sacred palace at Fadama in Accra, before proceeding to the Akosombo International School and then Mfanstiman Secondary School.
Later she read BA Social Science in Law and Sociology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. In December last year, she took the top prize; the Professor Agyeman Badu Academic Scholarship Award at the Ghana Institute of Public Administration (GIMPA) graduation ceremony where she was adjudged the Best Student in Master of Business Administration (MBA) for Project Management.
