The Asokore – Senchi  traditional council and residents in the Effiduase Asokore district have launched the maiden edition of their festival dubbed  “Senchi Ghana Agoro Festival” to be held in December each year.

This year’s festival begins in the tradition of being a staple in Ashanti’s colourful, vibrant and diverse cultural expression, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate themes of unity, culture restoration and communal gathering for socio-economic development.

The Festival was initiated by the current council of elders spearheaded by the Kontihene Nana Boateng Gyimah and Nana Susubiribi Krobea Asante Kotoko, to serve as a unifying avenue for generations to come and it’s a 3day festival slated to take place on December 27th to 29th.

The launch of the festival is to restore the lost cultural heritage which featured unifying games like ‘ampe’, ‘oware’, ‘dame’,’ antoakyire’ among others in other to bring unity among the youth, the entire community and Ghana at large.

Commenting on this year’s celebrations, Nana Boateng Gyimah (Kontihene of the Senchi Traditional area) said, “festivals have always been a time of great cultural and spiritual significance when the peoples and all who celebrate, present themselves anew to the acknowledgement of the culture of the people, offering prayers of protection”.

He indicated that they are especially excited to share this experience with their brothers and sisters from the diaspora in this Year Senchi-Ghana Agoro Festival.

He added that this year’s festival would provide a major platform to solicit for funds to development the community as they look forward to seeing members of the community who currently reside outside Senchi and Ghana. “We are therefore entreating all to participate in the forthcoming festival to champion the course of development”, he added.
