Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi, the CEO of Ghana Free Zone Authority, led a delegation to an important meeting upon honouring the invitation of GEBZE Organised Industrial Zone in Istanbul, Turkey and it was attended by prospective investors and a high profile people who have expertise in the management of economic zones.
GOSB is an Organized Industrial Zone which offers quality services to the participants with its modern, dynamic, innovative and friendly approach, which supports the production process of the industry, which is equipped with technology, which carries out permanent and exemplary projects.
The meeting centered on the establishment of a private Free Industrial Zone in Ghana to bringing in Turkish investors.
Additionally, an MOU was signed between Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi, Executive Secretary, Ghana Free Zones Authority and Vahit Yildirim, President of GEBZE Organised Industrial Zone in Turkey to facilitate processes next month.
It is needful to add that Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi’s good negotiation skills have led to an increase in the number of Free Zone enterprises .
Also, the heads of GFZA and GOSB discussed how to strengthen bilateral ties between two countries through industrialization and free zone enclaves.
Turkish investors are increasingly interested in opportunities in Ghana’s free zones. This is in part due to 10 year tax holidays and other benefits investors receive. It also reflects Ghana’s status as a door to the West African sub-region for myriad investors from around the globe.
The trade volume between the two countries reach US$353 million in 2017. Free zone investments are seen as a playing a key role in seeing that trade expanded to a targeted US$1 billion per annum in the near future.
