The Communication Director of the Nduom for 2012 campaign, Richmond Keelson has taken a swipe at the Chairman of the Convention People's Party, (CPP) Samia Yaba Nkrumah, for making what he said are disparaging comments against Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom.
According to him, Samia Nkrumah has grown horns in the party since leadership of the CPP refuse to call her to order because they see her as an incarnate of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and “that is the price we are all paying for”. The party chair has lambasted Dr. Nduom whom she accuses of instigating acts of disunity in the party likely to whittle party efforts at unity to help it emerge as an alternative for Ghanaians ahead of the 2012 general elections. Samia Nkrumah hinted that the flagbearer aspirant could be expelled from the CPP, adding that Dr. Nduom’s absence would rather “open the floodgates for our well wishers and sympathizers to come and help us.” The CPP has no united front currently as some members call for an early election of a flagbearer against leadership's position of a 2012 date. Those in favour of an early presidential primaries have threatened to hit the streets to back their demands. However, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Richmond Keelson said Samia Nkrumah's outburst is part of a grand plan by some members of the CPP to oust Dr. Nduom from the party. He alleged that Samia sees Dr. Nduom as a hindrance since she is now ‘in bed’ with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and would gladly align with the ruling party in the event of a run-off in 2012. Richmond Keelson noted that the NDC sees Samia as a malleable person whom they can manipulate to kowtow to their whims and caprices in their bid to retain power. He said Samia Nkrumah does not have any veto power to expel or take any disciplinary action against Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and blamed the sad development in the CPP on the party leadership who dwelt on their nostalgic feelings of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah (Party founder) and voted for “somebody as tiny as Samia without substance”. When asked of Dr. Nduom’s reaction to Samia’s comments, he said “he (Nduom) does not care about what a certain Samia is saying. He is cool with any decision by the party”. Richmond Keelson stated emphatically that they would match Samia and her cohorts boot-for-boot if they try to denigrate the person of “an honourable person like Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom”.
