Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Deputy Minister of Environment, Science And Technology, on Wednesday called on institutions, especially government establishments, to move away from a paper-intensive processes to using digital data management systems. He was speaking at the opening of a two-day seminar, organised by Inter-regional Bridge Group (IBG) in collaboration with Computhink Inc and Kodak on the theme: “Government and business solutions in Action-Ghana 2011”.

Neenyi Ghartey VII, Omanhene of Winneba in the Central Region, has told DAILY GUIDE that the National Democratic Congress-led government has banned him, together with his family, from partaking in the traditional Aboakyer festival of which he is the chief celebrant. He said leading personalities in government had taken direct charge of the Aboakyer festival and were bent on organizing the otherwise traditional ceremony just to fulfill a political campaign promise.

A popular businessman at Osei-Kwame near Odorkor is reported to have shot himself dead on Tuesday afternoon in his house. It is not clear why Daniel Boadu, about 55, shot himself in the head. His son Daniel Owusu told myjoyonline.com “Nobody knows what was wrong with him”. Sounding very devastated by the incident, Owusu said he was asleep in his room when he heard a gunshot only to wake up to find the father in a pool of blood with a “condemned head”.

A 30-year-old fisherman, Kojo Antobam, is in the grips of the Kwesimintsim police for allegedly murdering 20-year old Kwame Kum. The Kwesimintsim Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ben Ofori Acquah told the GNA in Takoradi, on Tuesday. He said on April 30, 2011, Joseph Rafael Sika Yena and Kwobena Mensah, both residents of Funko, arrested the suspect, one Antobam a fisherman, to the Kwesimintsim police station for allegedly assaulting the deceased Kwame Kum, which resulted in his death.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Dr. Kwesi Akyem Apea-Kubi, who recently descended heavily on journalists, calling them idiots, rubbish, among other unprintable words, has beaten a hasty retreat. He has officially apologised to the journalists, and called for a truce. Speaking to reporters at his residence in Koforidua, Appea-Kubi said human beings were bound to make mistakes, and he was no exception. According to him, he had learnt from his mistake, and appealed to the media practitioners to look at issues that would unite the country, and not the divisive ones.
